You learned how to create the game snake in Python along with concepts such as collision detection, image loading and event handling. Self._apple_surf = ( "block.jpg").convert() Self._image_surf = ( "block.jpg").convert() If x1 >= x2 and x1 = y2 and y1 <= y2 bsize: If x1 >= x2 and x1 = y2 and y1 self.updateCountMax: We create a new method to do that:ĭef isCollision( self,x1,y1,x2,y2,bsize): This simply means veryfing that the cordinate of the snake are intersecting with the coordinates of the apple. To know if the snakes position matches the apples position, we have to do collision detection. Self._apple_surf = ( "apple.png").convert() You can now move the block around the screen with the arrow keys. Self._display_surf.blit(self._image_surf,(,)) Self._image_surf = ( "pygame.png").convert() Self._display_surf = _mode((self.windowWidth,self.windowHeight), pygame.HWSURFACE) The complete code gives us the ability to move the player across the screen: from pygame. In Pygame we can get non-blocking keyboard input using this code: () In addition we define the actions a Player instance can do (movements): class Player:Ī player object can be created and variables can be modified using the movement methods. We define a class Player which holds the players position on the screen and the speed by which it moves. Getting started: Basic structure and event handling. This is very easy in the early phase of the game but is increasingly more difficult as the length of the snake grows. The goal of the game is to eat as many apples as possible without colliding into yourself. The player is represented as snake, which grows if it eats an apple. The game is an arcade game and it has very simple logic, which is why it is an ideal example to demonstrate how to build games with Pygame. Global variables are almost always a bad idea.In this tutorial you will learn how to build the game snake. You should stop using global variables and instead pass whatever variables you need between your functions. I think you should start looking at OOP pretty soon, but before that a glaring issue is that your functions all rely entirely on "side-effects" they don't accept any arguments and they return nothing. Usually people would write for _ in range(3): here to show that we don't actually care about the index of the iterator. Where the x in your for loop has nothing to do with the square dimensions. You also shouldn't use the same variable for different things, like this: def create_s(): Your function here: if (c.coords(s) directions>=600 or \Ĭ.coords(s) directions<=-30 or \Ĭ.coords(s) directions<=-30) and run: You should also take care in how you set up lines, and sometimes more cases are worth it simply since they make it easier to follow what's happening. Use clear and obvious names the common saying is that you would read a piece of code way more often than it is written, and it thus needs to be easy to understand-you might be surprised how little even your own code will make sense to you only days after having written it. Without deducing from functionality, I have no idea what variables like s and ap, or what functions like create_s() and s_move() do. Sp = c.create_text(10, 585, font='TimesNewRoman 10', text=f'speed: ', fill='white', anchor=W) If which_direction = -1: which_direction = 3 If which_direction = 4: which_direction = 0 Pause_text = c.create_text(302, 250, font='Terminal 30 bold', text="Press space to resume", fill='white') Global s, ap, run, which_direction, score If (c.coords(s) directions>=600 or \Ĭ.coords(s) directions>=600 or \Ĭ.coords(s) directions', restart) Square = c.create_rectangle(x, y, x 30, y 30, fill='', outline='white')Ĭ.move(s,directions, directions) Space - pause/start/restart game it dependsĬ = Canvas(root,bg='black', width=604, height=604, highlightthickness=0)Ĭ.create_text(302, 250, font='Terminal 30 bold', text="Press space to start", fill='white')ĭirections = ,] I know that I should use comments, I am sorry. I created snake as my first program with GUI, I didn't learn OOP yet,

The Stars were unable to find the tying goal in the final period and the game ended 3-1 in favor of the Condors following a late empty-net marker by Greg McKegg. Leading 2-1 after 40 minutes of action, Bakersfield was outshooting Texas 23-18. This project is directly inspired by and based on Tufte-LaTeX and the R Markdown Tufte Handout. tufte-css brings that style to HTML documents. In the second period, Raphael Lavoie chipped a puck past Murray at 2:32 near the left side of the net to give the Condors their first lead of the night. Edward Tufte uses a distinctive style in his handouts: simple, with well-set typography, extensive sidenotes, and tight integration of graphics and charts. Says Giller about her research, "There were so many instances of racism and very strange beliefs (in the book) that it was really hard to narrow down what I wanted to include (in the article)." It's worth noting that Siegel himself seems to have been on both sides of these topics. The upshot of all of this is that on every planet in every universe, fair-skinned, blue-eyed aliens named Adam and Eve come and "upstep" the natives, meaning that they eliminate the "inferior stocks" and "purify" the planet. She can have had no millstones about her neck to reckon with…. And so she was able to do us much good and no harm at all. Above all, I felt her a singularly honorable spirit, toward whom we always turned our best side, to whom we might never go with talk wanton or idle or unkind or critical, but always with our very precious thoughts on whatsoever things are eager, and honest and kindly and of good report. She was a figure of familiar friendliness, ready with sympathy and comprehension, but wholesome, sound and sane, without trace of sentimentality. She was a presence always heartily responsive, but never unwary, without the slightest reflection of her personality upon us, with never a word too much of praise or blame, of too much intimacy or of too much reserve. We can’t have talks… at least I shouldn’t be talking to my apps… about what the best way to do something is and then make that interpretation or change colors of stuff. We can’t make decisions on a moment’s notice, like I can with another musician. Except for, I cannot phrase with the app in the the same way that I can. For instance, if I do a collaborative piano thing with my colleague, there’s a lot of tools that we’ll talk about today that will substitute for that collaboration. And a lot of it does substitute for other things, but in the end, it can’t. So, one of the main things that I do is decide what’s best for the student and what’s best for me. I have to make that decision on every app that I use, or every device that I employ. Sometimes when it’s convenient, though, it takes away some of the learning behind it, and I’ll get into some of that later. Trevor: Yeah, I think one of the most important things is to decide when to use technology where it benefits as opposed to be either a substitute for something you should learn in a different way, or whether you should implement it because it’s just convenient. We’ve invited you here to talk about how you’ve been using mobile technology in applied music instruction, specifically related to performance. John:…and I have black raspberry green tea. Rebecca: This podcast series is hosted by John Kane, an economist… John: Thanks for joining us for Tea for Teaching, an informal discussion of innovative and effective practices in teaching and learning. In this episode we consider where students are developmentally in a discipline, convenience, cost, and other factors on the choice of supporting music instruction using mobile applications. John: There are apps for just about everything but choosing when to embrace them for instruction needs to be a careful decision. The worst dips we’ve seen are to 26/27 in certain moments. The frame rate averages 30 FPS now on a wide range of systems. Phantom Dust Remastered may not be the brand new game that was hyped at E3 (and which was subsequently put on hold by Microsoft) but at least it’s something new for the Xbox One. She also did some piano recordings in the 1990s. Scott recorded less in the 1970s as organ combos fell out of favor, but she returned again in the following decade, including on dates with Al Grey, Jimmy Forrest, and Dexter Gordon. Did we really need an organ rendition of On a Clear Day (You Can See Forever)" or The Beatles' Something"? On her dates from the late Sixties, Scott tended to include a few too may pop tunes, which perhaps tainted her reputation somewhat. Turrentine's Never Let Me Go, Hustlin' (probably my favorite), and Let It Go are also wonderful albums from this period, mixtures of blues, bop, and pop songs, with great interaction between sax and organ. Scott's 1963 albums The Soul is Willing and Soul Shoutin' are a great place to hear her play if you don't know her music (they are available together on a Prestige CD). In the 1960s, Scott teamed up - personally and professionally - with sax man Stanley Turrentine, and this collaboration produced winning music over a number of years. Most people think of electricity as the ability to drown everybody else out. It's an infinite number of tones," Scott once said. On the organ, no one knows how many different sounds you can get. Scott first came to prominence working with sax great Eddie Lockjaw" Davis in the late 1950s, particularly on the 1958 hit song In the Kitchen." Her style encompassed bebop chordal harmonies with a blues and gospel influenced sense of rhythm she had a lighter touch but punctuated her playing with the bass pedal (as Jimmy Smith did), epitomizing the soul-jazz organ sound. She was an admirer of fellow Philadelphian Jimmy Smith, as were so many other jazz artists. She played piano and trumpet before settling in at the Hammond B-3 organ. But organist Shirley Scott was certainly the only jazz musician to succumb to the effects of a diet drug. Jazz history is riddled with stories about the tragic consequences of drug use. |
